The Florida Department of Transportation has scheduled weekend closures on Interstate 395, State Road 836 and Interstate 95 in Miami for construction on the I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project.
All eastbound SR 836 travel lanes will close at Northwest 17th Avenue from 11 p.m. Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday. Two lanes between Northwest 17th Avenue and I-95 will close at 10 p.m., before the full closure takes effect.
Eastbound drivers will be detoured south across Northwest Seventh Street, then east on Southwest First Street to South Miami Avenue, where they can reach I-95 north or south. Drivers headed to Biscayne Boulevard and the MacArthur Causeway can turn left on Biscayne from Southwest First Street.
On Saturday, westbound I-395 lanes that feed onto westbound SR 836 will close at I-95 from 11:59 p.m. to 7 a.m. The ramps from I-395 to northbound and southbound I-95 will stay open. Westbound drivers can use the southbound I-95 ramp or exit at Southwest Seventh Street and Brickell Avenue, then turn left on Southwest Eighth Street.
FDOT also approved a temporary change to drawbridge operations on the Southwest First Street Bridge and the West Flagler Street Bridge over the Miami River. From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, both bridges will open on the hour and half-hour. At other times, they will follow their normal schedule.
FDOT said the schedule could change because of bad weather or other unforeseen conditions.
