Patti Smith, Celia Vive, Ricky Martin and Black Violin headline South Florida weekend

Patti Smith, a Celia Cruz centennial tribute, Ricky Martin and Black Violin are among the South Florida shows on the calendar Oct. 9 to 11.

Patti Smith opens the weekend at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. Her performance draws on her new memoir, “Bread of Angels,” and includes songs inspired by stories from the book. Tickets start at $40, and every full-price ticket comes with a copy of the book.

The Celia Cruz centennial continues with “Celia Vive!” at the Miramar Cultural Center on Friday at 8 p.m. Cuban artist Lucrecia will sing the Queen of Salsa’s hits alongside the Celia Cruz All Stars Band. Tickets cost $30 to $50.

Ricky Martin plays Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on Friday at 8 p.m. The Puerto Rican singer has sold 95 million albums and performed at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show with Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga. Tickets range from $55 to $935 through Ticketmaster.

Black Violin, the Grammy-nominated duo of Wil Baptiste and Kev Marcus, stops at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on Friday at 7 p.m. The group, which blends classical training with hip-hop, is on its Be Free Tour and heads north and west through November. Saxophonist Braxton Cook opens. Tickets cost $23 to $105.
