Friends of 18-year-old Kenneth “Kenny” Donahue are grieving the Spanish River High School senior, who was killed in an e-bike crash on West Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton. The crash happened shortly before 2 a.m., hours after Donahue spent Halloween night with friends.
The Boca Raton Police Services Department said its Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating. Police said a driver of a 2025 blue Corvette was heading east on West Palmetto Park Road between Interstate 95 and Military Trail when the car struck an electric bicycle carrying two people. Donahue was the passenger and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 16-year-old operating the e-bike was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The Corvette driver was not hurt. Investigators are still deciding whether criminal charges will be filed.
Friends described Donahue as funny, loving, optimistic and caring. Several said they had planned to attend college together. A blue cross now marks the crash site, and classmates said the school feels unusually quiet.
Donahue enjoyed sports and working out, and he wanted to become a police officer. He is expected to be laid to rest Friday.
Police and Donahue’s loved ones are asking anyone who saw the crash to come forward. Witnesses can contact Officer Gonzalez at 561-419-4124. Information can also be sent to info@justiceforkenny.com.
