The Coral Springs Police Department reported a busy week of crime across the city from Oct. 26 through Nov. 1, according to a blotter published by Coral Springs Talk. Police redacted the names and addresses of victims in most cases.
Theft was the most common category. The largest reported loss was a grand theft on Oct. 26 with an estimated value of $38,000, and police also investigated a separate grand theft report from an incident in August with a loss of $3,219. Shoplifting and felony retail theft reports came in almost daily, with individual losses ranging from $30 to $1,000.
Fraud and identity theft also appeared often. One identity theft report listed an estimated loss of $18,605, and a victim reported unauthorized credit card activity worth $308.
Violence cases included several batteries and domestic battery reports, one domestic battery by strangulation on Nov. 1, and an aggravated assault reported Oct. 31. Police also investigated a reported violation of a domestic violence injunction that same evening. A sexual battery report was filed with the victim’s identity protected.
Police also logged criminal mischief cases in which businesses reported damage exceeding $1,000, along with a vehicle burglary involving forced entry and several DUI arrests in Coral Springs and nearby areas.
The full blotter lists exact times and locations for each call, and it offers a useful picture of where property crime and domestic violence are being reported in the city this fall.
