The City of Tamarac will unveil its 14th hand-etched Veterans Honor Wall glass panel during a Veterans Day ceremony Wednesday, Nov. 11. The event starts at 10:30 a.m. at Tamarac Veterans’ Park, 7825 Southgate Blvd., and is part of the city’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
The new panel bears the engraved names of former service members who called Tamarac home. Retired Maj. Will Rodriguez will give the keynote address. The program also includes a presentation of colors and musical performances. The ceremony is open to the public.
Residents attending are asked to bring nonperishable food, socks and toiletries for veterans experiencing homelessness. The Tamarac Veterans Affairs Committee is running the drive. Donations can also be dropped off at the Tamarac Parks and Recreation Administration Building, 6001 Nob Hill Road, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The city is also taking applications for a possible 2027 Honor Wall unveiling. Local veterans, former residents who served and survivors may apply by Aug. 31, 2027, at Tamarac.me/Honorwall or by calling 954-597-3620.
Separately, the city and the veterans committee have begun recording veterans’ stories. The first interview, with Wilfredo Ruiz, is posted on the city’s YouTube channel.
