The City of Hollywood is launching a one-way traffic pilot project on S. 19th and S. 20th avenues between Washington and Jackson streets. Both avenues will switch from two-way to one-way traffic. The city says the changes aim to improve traffic flow, parking and bicycle safety.

The work also includes rebuilt intersection corners and alley connections with ADA-accessible ramps, regraded swales to help stormwater drainage, more on-street parallel parking and a dedicated bike lane. Access to homes, businesses and alleys will be maintained during construction. Residents are reminded to keep vehicles off swale areas, which is generally prohibited under City Code Section 72.022.

Separately, repairs are underway on the Johnson Street and Sherman Street bridges, with work scheduled through Feb. 25, 2027. The Johnson Street bridge will be fully closed to vehicles and pedestrians until Dec. 30, 2026, with a detour in place. After that, one lane will open under a temporary signal, and one sidewalk will stay open to pedestrians.

Boaters should also note that the C-10 Canal at the Sherman Street Bridge will be closed to boat traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday during construction.

Residents with questions about the pilot can visit HollywoodFL.org or call Jose Garcia, the city’s engineering, transportation and mobility project manager, at 954-921-3900.
