Deerfield Beach is turning post-Halloween cleanup into a family night. The city’s Movies in the Park event on Friday, Nov. 6, starts with a Pumpkin Smash at 6 p.m. at Quiet Waters Athletic Field, 4200 W. Hillsboro Blvd.

Residents can bring their old jack-o’-lanterns to smash. Filthy Organics will collect and compost every pumpkin, the city said.

After the smashing, the city will show The Wild Robot (PG) on the field. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Free popcorn is available while supplies last, and a food truck will be on site selling food. The city said the event is a way to send off Halloween while helping the environment. Details and the full Movies in the Park lineup are available at DFB.city/MITP.
