Boynton Beach held its annual Pirate Fest over Halloween weekend at Centennial Park and Amphitheater, along East Ocean Avenue. Locals and visitors came in pirate costumes to ride rides, browse exhibits and eat, with options ranging from giant chicken legs and homemade lemonade to empanadas and shish kebabs.

Visitors could try axe throwing, archery and sword-fighting games. A Mermaid Splash area featured interactive mermaids and sea-themed activities. Families also had a haunted trail, a kids’ zone, face painting and live performances at the amphitheater throughout the weekend.

The city first launched the festival in 2012 to bring residents and visitors together. It remains free to attend. Residents who want details on upcoming city events can find them at boynton-beach.org.
