The Town of Jupiter has closed the Jupiter Civic Center until further notice because wind and waves have eroded the beach there. The closure covers the Civic Center building, the outdoor deck overlooking the ocean and the beach dune crossover at the site.

All events scheduled at the Civic Center through the end of November have been canceled. Crossovers #45 through #50 are also closed.

Separately, the town has temporarily closed all of its athletic fields because of recent rainfall and wet conditions. Officials said the fields will reopen when conditions allow. One park is flooded after two days of heavy rain and will reopen once it dries out.

Residents and visitors are asked to stay out of all closed areas and use other designated beach access points. Anyone going to the beach should use extreme caution because of erosion and potentially hazardous waves. The town said it will post updates as more information becomes available.
