A 40-year-old Hialeah man was arrested Wednesday at his apartment on East 29th Street after police said he threatened to kill officers in a series of phone calls and text messages to the Hialeah Police Department’s communications section.
According to an arrest report, Ariel Pino told the department he wanted “war with the police” and said he would shoot anyone who interfered. Investigators said he made several statements indicating he intended to kill officers.
When an officer went to the residence, investigators said Pino stepped outside briefly, then went back inside and refused to open the door. Officers contacted his father, who gave them a key and permission to enter. The father told investigators he was afraid of his son because of his violent behavior.
Police said officers found Pino inside and told him he was under arrest. He allegedly resisted when officers tried to handcuff him, and he had to be taken to the ground. Investigators said he tucked his hands under his body to keep them from being cuffed.
Pino was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. A judge found probable cause at his court appearance and set bond at $15,500. He faces charges of making written threats to kill or cause bodily injury and resisting an officer without violence.
