The Humane Society of Broward County is looking for homes for two pets, a 6-month-old cat named Mummy and a 6-year-old dog named Aja. Shelter staffer Cherie Wachter introduced them during a Halloween-themed segment on Local 10 on Saturday.

Mummy is a long-haired cat with a soft coat. Wachter said she seemed nervous during her TV debut but is typically friendly and enjoys being held. She advises giving cats time to adjust when they enter a new home.

Aja is a bully-breed dog who was surrendered after her family lost their home. She likes playing fetch and loves toys, and she gets along with children and other dogs. Wachter said Aja would likely do best in a home without cats.

Dolly’s Dream has covered Aja’s adoption fee. She will also receive a shopping spree at the shelter’s pet boutique.

People interested in adopting can complete a pre-adoption application at humanebroward.com. The shelter’s adoption kennels open at 11 a.m.
