Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, a committee of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, will mark Kristallnacht, the anti-Jewish pogrom known as the “Night of Broken Glass,” on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026, with two public events at 1933-1945 Meridian Avenue in Miami Beach.
The day begins at 4:30 p.m. with an educational program for high school students that includes Holocaust survivors. A community commemoration follows at 6:30 p.m. with remarks from local elected officials and representatives of the Consulate General of Israel in Miami. A 105-year-old Holocaust survivor is scheduled to speak.
Kristallnacht took place on Nov. 9 and 10, 1938, when violence against Jewish communities spread across Nazi-occupied Germany and its territories. Homes, businesses and synagogues were attacked and destroyed, an escalation that later led to the Holocaust.
The organizers cited the Anti-Defamation League, which reported that 2025 was the deadliest year for antisemitic attacks in more than 30 years. The event is presented with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, the Florida Department of Education, the City of Miami Beach and community partners.
Media may attend both events, and interviews with community leaders and survivors will be available. Because of security protocols, reporters must register in advance by noon on Nov. 9 and bring credentials to the door. Registration and questions go to John P. David at john@davidpr.com or 305-724-3903.
