A Parkland woman told Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies that about $76,300 in personal valuables went missing from her home after she hired All Things Moving and Storage to help with her move. She found several items gone from her closet once the move was finished, and the theft was reported Oct. 22. The report covers incidents from Oct. 20 through Oct. 26.

The most serious arrest came Oct. 21. Stephanie Marie Owens, 39, was taken into custody on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after an argument in Parkland at about 10:37 p.m. The victim told deputies Owens punched him several times in the head and shoulder and scratched his arm. Deputies saw redness on his left ear and shoulder. Owens was found at a nearby business. The victim declined to give a sworn statement or pursue prosecution.

Other reports were smaller. A juvenile was hurt during the aftercare program at Heron Heights Elementary School on Oct. 21 and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. A Parkland resident received harassing messages that included his home address and referred to his mother by name, and the sender remains unidentified. Deputies also took a man into custody under the Baker Act on Oct. 25 after he said he had taken Xanax and alcohol with the intent to harm himself.

Residents who hired movers or who have received threatening messages may want to keep receipts and screenshots, the same kind of evidence the reports say was collected in several cases.
