The Children’s Science Explorium in Boca Raton is hosting “Life on the Edge,” a fall traveling exhibition that asks how scientists recognize life and where they look for it. The show runs through January 3, 2027.

Visitors can examine a colorful microbial colony, learn about missions to Mars and see rover tests conducted in Chile’s Atacama Desert. An exhibit on spectroscopy explains how scientists use light to learn about distant places. The exhibition also invites guests to consider how the definition of life shapes the search itself.

The science center is at Sugar Sand Park, 300 S. Military Trail. Admission is free. It is designed as a hands-on space for children ages 5 to 12 and their caregivers.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The Explorium is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
