Sole Aspect Records, a Miami label that releases only vinyl, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a free party at Dante’s HiFi on Friday, Nov. 13. The event starts at 9 p.m. at the club at 519 NW 26th St.
Founder Amaré, who launched the label during the pandemic in 2020, will share the bill with Kai Alcé, Justin Chapman, Injex and Michael Scott. Limited fifth-anniversary shirts will be sold at the event.
The label focuses on deep, Balearic-style house rooted in sounds from American pioneers such as Larry Heard and Ron Trent. Its first release, a three-track EP by Dubbyman titled “Assemblage,” sold out its 300 copies within 90 days.
Amaré, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Miami after years in Atlanta, said he sees vinyl as a counterweight to the flood of digital music. He said more than 150,000 tracks are uploaded to digital platforms each day. Archer Record Pressing Co. in Detroit presses the records, and Amaré handles distribution himself to shops including Technique, T-Bag and Connect in Fort Lauderdale.
For local listeners, the anniversary is a chance to hear a small, independent label that has stuck to its format. Admission is free.
