Runners and walkers can sign up for the second annual Race for Education 5K Run/Walk, set for Saturday, Nov. 14, at Tradewinds Park, 3600 W. Sample Road in Coconut Creek. The race starts at 7 a.m.
The Coral Springs Coconut Creek Regional Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation is hosting the event, which is presented by Amera and supported by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Proceeds will go to classroom materials, educational resources and other improvements for students and teachers at local elementary, middle and high schools.
The foundation says it works to strengthen local schools by giving teachers resources for engaging lessons. It also runs a micro-grant program that funds educator projects aimed at improving student learning.
Participants can run or walk the 3.1-mile course. Registration is $40 for adults 18 and older and $30 for those under 18. Online registration closes at 7:20 a.m. on race day.
Details and sign-up information are available on the official Race for Education registration page.
