A Palm Beach County man has been arrested on a felony elder neglect charge after deputies said he repeatedly left his wife, who has dementia, alone at home despite several incidents in which she wandered away.

Victor Palsenberger was taken into custody on a charge of neglect of an elderly disabled adult, a third-degree felony, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.

Deputies responded to several calls involving the woman between February and July. In each case, she was found outside, confused and unsupervised. Neighbors and first responders repeatedly helped her and raised concerns about her safety.

Investigators determined she needed constant supervision. They said Palsenberger did not provide adequate care even after receiving previous warnings from law enforcement, fire rescue personnel and the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The investigation is ongoing. The affidavit has not been tied to any additional charges at this time.
