A Miami Dade College professor has built a side career at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, where he helps run some of South Florida’s largest events. Lance Brown teaches leadership and business organization at the college’s Kendall Campus. On event days, he works as an event supervisor at the stadium.

Brown began as an usher, assigned to Section 109, and later moved up to supervise the stadium’s ushers. He said some of his students now work at the stadium too, after he told them about the job.

Hard Rock Stadium hires up to 3,000 part-time workers for each event, according to Jose Mola, vice president of stadium operations for the Miami Dolphins. Mola said many employees see the work as more than extra pay. The stadium holds nearly 65,000 spectators for football games.

Brown said his favorite memories include a Coldplay concert, when he stood on the field looking up at the stage. He said the job suits anyone who likes people, even those who do not follow sports closely.

Hard Rock Stadium regularly recruits part-time staff. Interested applicants can find openings on the stadium’s official website.
