Fort Lauderdale police are searching for a man caught on security video stealing an e-bike from a home in the Southwest 29th Street area, according to 7 News, which obtained the footage.
The theft happened around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, while residents were at work. The suspect wore a shirt over his head, walked up to the home, opened the gate and went straight to the e-bikes parked in the carport.
Resident Paul Guerrero said the household has an alarm lock, and it went off when the man grabbed one of the bikes. Guerrero’s wife of 36 years was home at the time and can be heard on the video yelling, “What are you doing?”
The man rode the bike down the street and got away. Guerrero said the man looked at his porch before leaving.
Police say they are investigating the theft as a felony. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
