Strong winds and dangerous surf are making conditions hazardous along the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast on Sunday, according to WPBF 25 News.
A Wind Advisory covers parts of Indian River County, where sustained winds are forecast at 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Wind gusts near 30 mph were already recorded Sunday morning from Sebastian and Vero Beach south through Jupiter, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and Boca Raton.
A High Surf Advisory also remains in effect along the Atlantic coast, where seas could reach 7 to 12 feet. The rough surf brings dangerous swimming conditions, a high risk of rip currents and the possibility of beach erosion.
Forecasters are watching an area in the Atlantic with a 30% chance of tropical development over the next seven days. No immediate impacts to Florida are expected from that system.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items, drive with caution and stay out of the ocean.
