Two Diwali celebrations are scheduled in Broward County this fall, one with free admission and one with a discounted advance ticket.

The free event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Las Olas Oceanside Park, known as LOOP, at 3000 E. Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. Organizers plan vendors, dance performances and other entertainment, along with food for purchase. Parking is typically $4 an hour, according to the source.

The second festival, called Diwali Festival of Lights, takes place from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at City Center, 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines. It will feature displays, entertainment and vendors selling jewelry, apparel and Indian foods. Hundreds of kids, teens and adults are scheduled to perform Indian dances.

Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 at the gate.

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is widely observed across India and in South Florida’s South Asian community.
