President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Palm Beach County on Friday, his first trip to the county in several months. His arrival is expected around 6 p.m., according to his official White House schedule.
His last visit came in May, when he delivered a speech at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. Friday’s trip will also be his first since the former Palm Beach International Airport was renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
The renaming moved forward after state Rep. Meg Weinberger of Palm Beach Gardens filed a bill in November. Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the legislation in March, and county commissioners later approved a trademark agreement with the president’s companies. The new name took effect in July, and the airport code changed from PBI to DJT in August. The county says the change will cost about $6 million, paid from airport revenue.
Temporary flight restrictions are in place around Palm Beach and Mar-a-Lago during the visit. The trip could also offer a first look at Trump’s new plane, a gift from the Qatari government, though the source did not confirm that.
Drivers and residents near the Palm Beach area should expect heightened security and airspace limits during the visit.
