Volunteers are needed for a two-day meal-packing event in Tamarac that aims to pack 101,088 meals in honor of World Food Day. The event runs Oct. 16 and 17 at Community Christian Church, 10001 W. Commercial Blvd.

Food For The Poor is partnering with Feed My Starving Children and the church to host the effort. Organizers are offering four two-hour shifts. On Friday, Oct. 16, volunteers can work from 1 to 3 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 17, shifts run from 9 to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m.

People who want to take part must create an account through the volunteer registration page and sign up for an open shift. Organizers are also asking residents to share the event with friends and neighbors so the meal goal can be reached.
