The Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce is collecting food and toys this holiday season to help families in need in both communities.
The food drive is underway and runs through Nov. 25. Organizers are asking businesses, residents and community groups to donate nonperishable food items. The toy drive follows from Nov. 25 through Dec. 15 and is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages.
Donations for both drives can be dropped off at three locations: the Chamber Office, Moose Lodge and Woodmont Country Club.
The chamber is encouraging businesses to take part by organizing workplace collections, challenging neighboring businesses to match their donations and spreading word about the drives. Businesses or individuals who want to make larger donations can contact the chamber to arrange a pickup.
