Shoes for a Cure is back in Miami, and shoppers can help raise money for breast cancer research while picking up a new pair of shoes. The multi-day event starts Thursday in the Miami Design District, according to Local 10 News.

At selected stores, participating brands will donate a percentage of their sales to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The event, which organizers call the largest fundraising event in the footwear industry, has raised more than $65 million for breast cancer research to date.

Miami chairperson Jennifer Stearns Buttrick, a two-time cancer survivor, said she has had access to state-of-the-art care at Sylvester. She said the event aims to raise awareness about early detection and additional research. Buttrick cited the statistic that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
