Broward County Parks is asking residents to weigh in on a list of city-owned and county-owned natural areas and parks that have been nominated for the Urban Wilderness Inventory. The inventory identifies sites that could later be dedicated to the Urban Wilderness Park System.

The county said adding a site could bring expanded legal protection as a conservation land. It could also place the site on a list of the most important natural areas in Broward County, and it would help ensure the places remain available for passive recreation and enjoyment.

The public meeting is set for Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. at Plantation Heritage Park, 1100 S. Fig Tree Lane in Plantation. Organizers encourage residents to attend and share their views. More details are available through the link in the county parks Instagram account’s bio.
