Federal prosecutors want life prison sentences and $4.75 million in combined fines for Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander, the Miami-raised brothers convicted in March of sex trafficking. The request was made in a 175-page sentencing submission filed in Manhattan federal court.
The brothers are scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 27 by U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni. Prosecutors asked for the maximum allowable fines: $1.5 million each for Oren and Alon, and $1.75 million for Tal. Prosecutors acknowledged the fines would barely dent the family’s wealth, but said the brothers should not be allowed to keep money that was central to their crimes.
According to the filing, more than 70 women have made allegations against the brothers, and 11 testified at the five-week trial. Jurors returned guilty verdicts on every count on March 9. Prosecutors say the assaults began in 2001 or 2002, when the brothers were in high school, and that the men used luxury homes, private flights and drugs to isolate victims.
The government also wants restitution for victims, who prosecutors say have suffered at least hundreds of thousands of dollars in losses. The specific amounts were filed under seal. The defense is contesting every part of the restitution claims and has asked for 15-year sentences, the mandatory minimum.
Oren and Alon also face separate state sexual assault charges in Miami-Dade County. The brothers were arrested in December 2024.
