A Pompano Beach man has pleaded no contest to charges tied to stealing trading cards from retail stores and reselling them online. Sentencing is set for Dec. 4 in Martin County.
According to court documents, Keith R. Wallis, 40, entered the plea Thursday, Oct. 15, to two counts of organized retail theft and three counts of dealing in stolen property. The Florida Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution declined to pursue a money laundering charge against him.
Wallis, a native of Canada, had pleaded not guilty in March. His attorney, Paul M. Aloise Jr., said the decision followed a review of the discovery and evidence, and that the plea was in his client’s best interest. Aloise said he plans to file a motion asking the court to sentence Wallis below the 35.25-month state prison minimum. The judge could still impose a longer term.
Court records say that between July 2025 and February 2026, Wallis committed 75 thefts of large boxes of trading cards at stores from Orlando to Homestead, 39 of them at Target. He allegedly used self-checkout, scanning cheaper taco seasoning packets instead of the card boxes. The stores lost more than $10,000. Wallis then sold the cards on eBay for about $39,000 in revenue.
The Attorney General’s office did not immediately respond to WPBF 25 News’s request for comment.
