Panther Coffee in Wynwood is hosting another free afternoon of live music as part of its Third Thursday Series. The shows run from noon to 2 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at the coffee shop at 2390 NW 2nd Ave.
The Wynwood Business Improvement District is partnering with the coffee shop on the series. William Kelley, who spoke for the district in the story, said each month features a different genre, with past shows including jazz and blues. The idea grew out of the neighborhood’s identity as an arts district, which he said was missing a live music component.
Local band The Original Cover Project said the program is long overdue. Band member Sean Edelson said the area once had far more music than it does today and that the series brings live music rather than only DJs. There is no cover charge.
The next show is Thursday, Oct. 15, featuring soul musician and loop artist Matt Brown.
