A 30-year-old Palm Beach County man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies said he choked a woman, threatened her with a knife and then barricaded himself in a bathroom during a domestic violence incident.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Oct. 4 about a domestic dispute involving a weapon. They found a woman with multiple bruises on her face and body. She told investigators that Chadwick Alan Chauncey had battered her and choked her until she nearly lost consciousness.
Deputies said Chauncey armed himself with a knife and locked himself in a bathroom. Crisis Intervention Team measures were used as deputies tried to persuade him to come out. After several attempts, he emerged holding a large kitchen knife to his neck and threatened to kill himself, deputies said. He refused repeated orders to drop the weapon, so officers used a Taser and a 40-millimeter less-lethal round to take him into custody.
A witness told deputies they saw Chauncey choking the woman and later charging at her with the knife, the affidavit says.
Jail records show Chauncey was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery by strangulation and resisting an officer without violence. He remained in custody after his arrest.
