Fighter jets from the North American Aerospace Defense Command will enforce a Federal Aviation Administration-established VIP temporary flight restriction over West Palm Beach this weekend, Oct. 23 to 25.
The FAA requires general aviation pilots to check Notices to Airmen before every flight, according to NORAD, and they must follow the restriction’s procedures. Pilots should expect these restrictions to be scheduled regularly, so they will need to plan ahead for each trip.
NORAD said its jets will respond to any aircraft that violates the restriction and take the steps needed to bring it into compliance. The agency said it encourages pilots to avoid that situation altogether.
Since the January 2025 presidential inauguration, NORAD has responded to more than 60 tracks of interest that violated temporary flight restrictions in the West Palm Beach area.
For residents, the weekend restrictions mean possible military aircraft activity overhead and limits on private flights in the area.
