Family and friends filled a church in West Palm Beach on Saturday morning to remember Akeem Moore, a 32-year-old minister who was shot and killed on Sept. 27.

Police said Moore was caught in the middle of a confrontation involving a man who they believe mistook Moore’s girlfriend for someone else. The suspected gunman, 38-year-old Hugh Milner Jr., was later found and arrested in Broward County.

The Celebration of Life was held at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 111 W. 36th St., where Moore served as minister of worship. He also belonged to the church’s Evangelistic Outreach, Technology and Social Media Ministries. A viewing was held Friday at Greater Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Riviera Beach.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Mount Calvary described the service as a celebration of Moore’s life, his music and the impact he had on people who knew him. The church asked the community to keep his family in prayer.
