Democrat Michael Ferguson is taking his closing campaign pitch for House District 100 to college football viewers this Saturday. His campaign said its first ad, “Protect,” will run during midday and afternoon games as he seeks to flip the Broward County seat.

The 30-second spot draws on Ferguson’s Air Force service as an active-duty captain and judge advocate. It touches on insurance costs, development and household expenses, and it includes footage of him walking through the district to speak with residents. The ad launched a six-figure advertising buy.

The race is to succeed term-limited Rep. Chip LaMarca, a Lighthouse Point Republican. Ferguson’s campaign said its volunteers have knocked on more than 40,000 doors, up from more than 23,000 when the ad launched. Ferguson, a former running back at Cardinal Gibbons High School, tied the football placement to his own playing days.

The district runs along the Broward coast from Fort Lauderdale to the Palm Beach County line, including parts of Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Deerfield Beach. President Donald Trump won about 53% of the vote there in 2024, while LaMarca won more than 57%.

Early voting is underway. Election Day is Nov. 3.
