Miami City Ballet is kicking off its season with a program that blends live music, dance and high fashion. The “American Rhythms” program includes the world premiere of “Push the Button of the Civilized,” a new work with choreography by Patricia Delgado and original music by Emily Estefan.

Delgado described the ballet as having a guiding presence that moves through the performance and reaches the audience as well as the dancers. Estefan said people who attend will be seeing a story, not only listening to music.

The show opens Friday night at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, with performances scheduled October 16 through 18. The production then moves to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale for shows October 24 through 26.
