The Miami Children’s Museum is offering a month of Halloween activities for families, with the haunted house, science experiments and trick-or-treating all included with regular admission.
The museum’s haunted house is billed as “not so scary,” though a WSVN 7News crew found it had a few startling moments, including a costumed character chasing visitors down a dark hallway. Visitors can also watch chemistry demonstrations, including a “puking pumpkin” experiment led by a staff member known as Dr. Juicelbeet, and a stage production based on the children’s picture book “Creepy Pair of Underwears.”
Families can decorate mini pumpkins, hunt for hidden ghosts around the museum and enter costume contests, with prizes available all month. On Halloween itself, kids can trick-or-treat throughout the museum, which is air-conditioned. Museum educator Deborah Spiegelman said the candy includes Peanut M&M’s. Trick-or-treating ends at 6 p.m., leaving time to visit neighborhoods afterward.
The museum is at 980 MacArthur Causeway in Miami. The event schedule runs on weekends through October, with the final weekend on Oct. 24 and 25.
