Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a suspicious death at a Weston home owned by Venezuelan-born singer Gustavo Ormo. Dispatchers received a report of a possible drowning near the 2100 block of Quail Roost Drive at about 9 a.m. Friday, according to the agency.
Deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews responded and found an adult man submerged in a pool. Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office did not release his name in the statement provided to Miami New Times.
Homicide and crime scene units were called to the home. The agency described the circumstances as suspicious, and the investigation is ongoing.
Property records confirm Ormo owns the house, but it is unclear whether he was home at the time or lives there now. His representatives did not respond to requests for comment before publication.
Ormo, who performs as Gus Ormo, is known for romantic ballads that mix pop and Latin rhythms. He released the album Alquimia in 2025 and the instrumental project Agape in October. Neither the sheriff’s office nor the singer has linked his career to the investigation.
