Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 22-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with a shooting in a Pompano Beach neighborhood that left one person hurt nearly a week earlier.

Willie Cheatom III was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and discharging a firearm in public, deputies said. The shooting happened Thursday night, just after 8 p.m., near the 200 block of Northwest 31st Avenue.

Deputies found one person with a superficial wound at the scene. That person was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

NBC 6 cameras captured bullet holes in windows and buildings in the area. A neighbor said he was home with his wife when he heard gunshots and saw people running. He said a bullet went through a window where children often play at a neighboring home.

The arrest closes a case that unsettled residents on a residential block, where stray rounds reached occupied homes. Anyone with information on the case should contact the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
