A Miami man was arrested Sunday on a felony aggravated battery charge after police said he attacked a worker building a pool at a home under construction in the Belle Meade neighborhood.

The incident happened Aug. 20, according to police. They said Tennier Taylor, 42, who had hired the worker to build the pool, arrived, said he was not satisfied with the job and began smashing the work with a hammer. When the worker tried to explain that the problem could be fixed, police said Taylor became angry and struck him in the chest with the hammer.

Police said Taylor also threw a hammer at the victim, which the man blocked, and hit him in the back with a wooden stick. Investigators spent several months on the case before the victim identified Taylor from a photo lineup, authorities said.

In his arrest form, Taylor told police he was unhappy with the quality of the work and asked the worker to either redo it or leave. He said the two argued but denied there was a physical altercation.

As of Monday afternoon, Taylor was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond was listed as “to be set.”
