The American Cancer Society is holding two Making Strides Walk events in South Florida this month to draw attention to metastatic breast cancer, a form of the disease that can spread quickly through the body.
The first walk starts at 7 a.m. on Oct. 17 at Amerant Bank Arena. WSVN meteorologist Vivian Gonzalez is scheduled to attend.
The second walk begins at 7 a.m. on Oct. 24 at loanDepot Park. WSVN anchors Tavares Jones and Alex De Armas plan to take part.
Organizers said the walks will honor patients and raise money for breast cancer research. Metastatic breast cancer is usually treated with chemotherapy, radiation and other therapies, according to the station. People can register or donate through the Making Strides Walk pages for each location.
WSVN is a sponsor of the American Cancer Society.
