The Children’s Science Explorium in Boca Raton is hosting “Life on the Edge,” a traveling exhibition that asks how scientists recognize life and where it might exist. The show is on display through January 3, 2027.

The exhibit moves from microscopic discoveries to distant worlds. Visitors can look at a colorful microbial colony, learn about missions to Mars, and see rover tests in Chile’s Atacama Desert. A spectroscopy display shows how light can reveal clues about faraway places. Guests are also invited to consider how the way scientists define life shapes the search itself.

The science center is at Sugar Sand Park, 300 S. Military Trail, and is designed for children ages 5 to 12 and their caregivers. Admission is free.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays. The Explorium is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
