King tide flooding has been affecting roads along Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach this week, but residents on nearby Bloomfield Drive say the water stays long after the tide recedes.

WPTV reporter Michael Hoffman found portions of Bloomfield Drive, just off South Flagler Drive, still covered by water at low tide. Longtime resident Alfredo Sanchez, who said he has lived there since 1974, told Hoffman the street has had drainage problems for about five years. He said surrounding streets can dry out while water remains on Bloomfield Drive, leaving behind muck, debris and rust on sidewalks.

Sanchez said the water was still there six hours after high tide. Another resident, Hampton Bebee, described Flagler Drive as hard to walk on when there is about two and a half feet of water in the morning.

Sanchez said neighbors have raised the issue with the city for years without a lasting fix, and he has called city offices without getting a response. WPTV reached out to the city of West Palm Beach about the drainage concerns and what can be done. The city had not responded in the report.
