Hollywood’s Hispanic Heritage Festival gets underway today from 3 to 9 p.m. at ArtsPark at Young Circle, according to the City of Hollywood. The celebration opens with a Parade of Nations from 3 to 4 p.m., highlighting the cultures represented in the city.
The festival features live music and entertainment. Puerto Rican salsa singer Melina Almodovar, billed as the headliner, will perform alongside artists from Cuba, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. The lineup also includes mariachi, Venezuelan drummers and several local dance studios.
Students from Hollywood Hills High School, Driftwood Middle School, Apollo Middle School, Hollywood Hills Elementary and Boulevard Heights Elementary are also scheduled to perform.
The city encourages families to attend and bring dancing shoes. The festival is part of Hispanic Heritage Month events in Hollywood.
