Repairs on the Johnson Street and Sherman Street bridges in Hollywood are scheduled to run from July 13, 2026, through Feb. 25, 2027, according to the city. The work includes concrete repair, guardrail repair and sheet pile installation at the northeast and northwest corners.

Both bridges will be fully closed to vehicles and pedestrians until Dec. 30, 2026, with a detour in place. After that, one travel lane will reopen under a temporary traffic signal, with eastbound and westbound traffic taking turns. Pedestrians will have one side of the bridge.

Boaters should also plan around the C-10 Canal at the Sherman Street Bridge, which will be closed to boat traffic from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday during construction.

Separately, Broward County’s Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division is raising the Sheridan Street bridge over Florida’s Turnpike by two feet. The county hired Structural Technologies for the job, which is meant to meet current vertical clearance standards and reduce the risk of future vehicle strikes. The bridge will have 16 feet, 6 inches of clearance when finished.

Crews will work in phases, with temporary lane closures, nightly traffic diversions, pedestrian detours and overnight work on Sheridan Street and the Turnpike. The county said business and residential access will be maintained. Residents can find schedules and project details on the county’s Sheridan Street Bridge project page.
