The Hollywood City Commission on Oct. 7 approved amended agreements with the Related Group to redevelop the Hollywood Beach Culture and Community Center, but the deal leaves out Harry Berry Park. Commissioners will take up the park portion on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026.

The project, once called “Hollywood Arts” and now named “Portofino Hollywood,” covers about 3.5 acres at 1301 S. Ocean Drive. The site includes the community center, Harry Berry Park and two surface parking lots. In May, the commission also approved adding “Hero Housing” rental units to the property.

The effort dates to 2020, when the city received an unsolicited proposal for the site. After the city marketed the opportunity through its real estate adviser, CBRE, the commission ranked finalists in 2021 and approved negotiations with the Related Group in March of that year. The commission approved the Comprehensive Agreement and Ground Lease Agreement in March 2022.

For residents, the outcome determines what happens to the aging community center and the beachfront park. The Oct. 21 vote will decide whether Harry Berry Park becomes part of the project.
