A 63-year-old Deerfield Beach man was arrested Monday in connection with a high-speed crash that killed his wife and injured three other people nearly six months ago, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Jean Claude Saint Cyr faces charges including vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and seven counts of reckless driving involving damage to a person or property, according to jail records. His wife, 59-year-old Fedeline Alexis Saint Cyr, died at the scene after she was ejected from his white 2023 Land Rover Discovery during the May 26 crash.
The crash happened shortly before 1:40 p.m. at Northeast Third Avenue and 44th Street. Investigators said Saint Cyr was driving north on Third Avenue when he rear-ended a Nissan Rogue that had stopped at 44th Street. The SUV then crossed into the southbound lanes, struck a Nissan NV200 and rolled to a stop near the sidewalk.
Deputies said the Land Rover was traveling between 98 and 102 mph near a business where the posted limit is 30 mph. The Rogue’s driver was ejected and found partially beneath the vehicle near a home’s front porch. All three injured drivers were taken to Broward Health North.
Neighbors told Local 10 News that drivers often speed through the area and run the four-way stop. As of Tuesday morning, Saint Cyr was being held at the Broward County Main Jail, and his bond had not been immediately set.
