Palm Beach Aggregates LLC, the landowner and developer behind the disputed “Project Tango” data center in western Palm Beach County, gave $108,000 to prominent Florida political committees and statewide candidates between Oct. 15 and Oct. 27, according to state campaign finance filings.
The contributions were first reported by Jason Garcia, a former Orlando Sentinel reporter who now writes the Substack Seeking Rents. Records from the Florida Division of Elections show the money was spread across seven political accounts.
The spending comes as the company faces strong opposition over its plan for a major technology campus near 20-Mile Bend and the Arden community. Residents in Arden, Loxahatchee and Wellington have raised concerns about constant cooling noise, electric grid demand, water resources and the site’s proximity to Saddle View Elementary School.
The Palm Beach County Commission first voted 5-1 to deny the company’s expanded 3.6 million-square-foot proposal after a marathon public hearing. The dispute reopened after county staff found that a 2016 master plan allowed hundreds of thousands of square feet of data center space to move forward without a new public hearing. County leaders are now looking at zoning moratoriums and legal options.
Palm Beach Aggregates is pursuing local administrative channels and state land-use appeals. The campaign contributions show the company is also building ties with state leaders and legislators.
