Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are trying to identify a woman who pepper-sprayed a sales clerk at a convenience store in North Lauderdale after a dispute over her bill.

The incident happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 2 at the Kwik Mart at 7120 Kimberly Blvd., according to the BSO North Lauderdale District. Surveillance video shows the argument escalating at the register.

Investigators said the woman was buying several items when she accused the employee scanning them of overcharging her. The clerk printed a receipt to show that he had not charged her extra. Detectives said the woman then pulled a can of mace, reached through an opening in the glass-enclosed checkout area and sprayed the clerk in the face at close range before leaving the store.

Video shows a tattoo covering the entire length of her right forearm. Detectives have not yet been able to identify her.

Anyone with information can call Detective Jacob Pincus at 954-597-4779 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Tips can be anonymous, and the crime stoppers program says a reward of up to $5,000 may be available.
