A construction worker was seriously injured Friday afternoon after a truck apparently slammed into a construction crane on Atlantic Avenue near Northeast 7th Avenue in Delray Beach.
The worker was tethered to the crane at about the second floor of the project when he fell to the ground. He appears to have landed hard. Delray Beach Fire Rescue’s technical rescue team freed him from the tether and took him to Delray Medical Center.
A photo submitted by a reader shows the crane with serious damage. It is not yet known why the truck hit the crane.
Delray Beach police have not yet released information on the man’s condition or whether the truck driver will face charges. A diesel fuel cleanup was underway as of 3:40 p.m., according to the report.
