Broward County Public Schools will open its School Choice application window for the 2027-28 school year at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9. Families have until Friday, Jan. 15, 2027, to apply for magnet programs, Nova schools and reassignment to schools outside their assigned attendance boundaries.
Applications are submitted through the district’s Focus Parent Portal, and a BCPS student number is required. Parents of students new to the district can get a student number by visiting any BCPS school before the deadline. They must bring a government-issued photo ID and their child’s birth certificate.
Program details, eligibility requirements and application instructions are posted at browardschools.com/schoolchoice. Parents who need help with the portal can contact their child’s current BCPS or charter school. Families of private school students or those new to the district can email focuscommunications@browardschools.com.
