Barnes & Noble opened its Midtown Miami bookstore at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the former West Elm space at 3201 N. Miami Ave., across from Nordstrom Rack. The store covers 12,000 square feet and uses the company’s new design and format.
New York Times bestselling author L.J. Shen was scheduled to host the ribbon-cutting and sign books. Shoppers can get $50 off any Nook device and 40% off DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD movies. Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards members will earn double stamps on purchases made from Oct. 14 through Oct. 18.
The Midtown location is the company’s 21st opening in Florida since it went private in 2019, according to the company. CEO James Daunt said in a statement that the Florida stores have been well received and that the company wants to keep growing in the Design District area.
The opening adds to a run of new bookstores in Miami-Dade. Books & Books still runs three locations, Roots Bookstore and Market opened in Liberty City last summer, and Posman Books opened at Miami Worldcenter in 2024. D Third Place, an independent bookstore and cafe, is set to open in Pinecrest on Nov. 7. Quade Books at Aventura Mall closed in July.
With the Midtown store, Barnes & Noble now has five locations in Miami-Dade, with others in Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Kendall and South Miami. Broward has five Barnes & Noble stores.
